Long drives without the fatigue
A drive from Colombo to Ella or Jaffna can run six to eight hours each way, which is exhausting after a full day of sightseeing on either end. Handing the driving to someone experienced on those specific roads means the family actually enjoys the journey - napping, taking photos at the Kandy Lake viewpoint, or simply arriving without a stiff neck from hours behind the wheel.
Hill country roads need local judgement
The climb toward Nuwara Eliya through Ramboda and the switchbacks past Ella Gap are unforgiving for drivers unfamiliar with hairpin bends, mist and the occasional stray livestock. Multi-day tours and overnight stays
For trips beyond a single day - say Colombo to Jaffna with a night in Anuradhapura, or a three-day Kandy-Nuwara Eliya-Ella loop - we agree the driver's overnight arrangement upfront, whether that means a room booked alongside yours or a nearby guesthouse. This is confirmed at the quoting stage so there are no awkward conversations on the road.
Day trips versus multi-day itineraries
Not every outstation booking involves an overnight stay. Day trips to Galle for a wedding, or to Kandy for a temple visit and back the same evening, are common and priced by the day rather than the kilometre. Longer, multi-day itineraries are quoted once we know the full route and number of nights involved.
